•Investment brings advanced water solutions to help meet China's growing water needs

WUXI, China, Nov. 9, 2007 -- GE Water & Process Technologies, a unit of General Electric Company and leading global supplier of water, wastewater and process solutions, announced a US $8.9 million investment to expand its advanced water and process manufacturing facility located in Wuxi, China. GE officials joined Wuxi government officials and leaders for a ground-breaking ceremony, marking GE's ongoing commitment of investment and delivery of advanced water and process solutions to China.

"As China's water demands continue to grow, our investment will help China implement sustainable solutions that will benefit its industries, businesses and the environment."

Originally constructed in 2004 with a U.S. $10 million investment, the GE Wuxi Manufacturing Facility manufactures advanced water filtration membranes, associated equipment and produces thousands of tons of specialty chemicals used in water and process treatment applications. The facility will be expand by 30,000 square meters and will include a new manufacturing area to produce additional advanced water solutions, such as reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, RO machines and hollow fiber ultrafiltration (UF) membranes used in potable water, wastewater and water reclamation solutions. In addition, the Wuxi Manufacturing Facility will improve GE's specialty chemical and equipment distribution throughout China and Asia.

GE Water & Process Technologies has several treatment plants operating in China including the Qinghe water recycling plant in Beijing, a drinking water treatment plant for the Beijing Olympics National Stadium and a water purification plant for the new city area of Foshan, Guangdong.
