Aug. 15, 2007 -- It's hard to predict demand in any industry. Seasonal variations, local industrial requirements, the weather, even world events can affect demand overnight, making business planning difficult.
The water and waste treatment industry is not immune. A seasonal change in demand to meet the needs of farmers, fishermen or local industry can stretch facilities to breaking point. Add to that the risk of equipment breakdown or the need for planned maintenance, and the situation can easily become acute.
Centriquip is helping industry to overcome these periods of high demand with its mobile dewatering centrifuges, which bring sludge disposal technology right where it's needed. Mobile decanter centrifuge rigs are housed in standard road vehicles and carry all the necessary equipment to plug into an existing plant while static equipment is out of action or to provide additional capacity during periods of high load.
The mobile units can effectively de-water industrial sludge or sewage and include everything that is needed to reduce it to an easily disposable 'cake' that can be disposed of simply, safely and inexpensively to landfill, recycled to agriculture, or incinerated.
The most common uses for mobile equipment are to provide additional resources to meet seasonal demand, for lagoon dewatering, to cover during routine maintenance or as part of a disaster recovery program in the event of a major breakdown.
Another important use is for evaluating the technology itself before committing to capital purchase. The mobile unit allows Centriquip customers to evaluate the technology on their own sites, working on their own applications. Centriquip provides training for customers' staff or can supply the unit with a fully trained engineer who will operate the equipment and provide a complete analysis of the feed, dry solids, polymer consumption and centrate quality for a comprehensive evaluation of performance, costs and payback. The engineer is also qualified to provide technical advice to customers to help with any sludge handling application.
