San Diego teachers treated to water quality workshop
ALEXANDRIA, VA, Sept. 20, 2007 -- San Diego high school science teachers will be treated to the water quality training event at the full-day, hands-on 13th annual WEFTeach workshop. The award-winning "train-the-trainer" program will be held Monday, October 15 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Calif.
WEFTeach 2007 will invest in area schools by providing several hands-on water education programs including Sewer Science, a mobile mini wastewater treatment plant that challenges students to treat water to the same U.S. EPA standards expected of municipalities and World Water Monitoring Day™, an annual, international program that engages communities in monitoring the condition of local rivers, streams, estuaries and other water bodies.
Presented in conjunction with WEFTEC®.07 -- the Water Environment Federation's 80th annual technical exhibition and conference -- WEFTeach is made possible through a partnership of corporations, water agencies, engineering consultants, non-profit community organizations and caring individuals. The Coca-Cola Company will be a 2007 sponsor and the California Water Environment Association will organize and host the training.
Recognized as the largest water quality event in North America and largest annual water quality exhibition in the world, WEFTEC.07 is expected to draw more than 17,000 water quality professionals and feature over 1,000 exhibiting companies for five days -- October 13 through 17 -- of technical education, information exchange and networking opportunities.
Formed in 1928, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with 32,000 individual members and 80 affiliated Member Associations representing an additional 50,000 water quality professionals throughout the world.
