• L.A.B. Trade fair and conference for analysis, bio and laboratory equipment in the UK attracted world-class attendees
LEIPZIG, Germany, Oct. 4, 2007 -- Leipziger Messe, organizers of L.A.B., the trade fair and conference devoted to analysis, bio and laboratory equipment -- and its industry partners GAMBICA and SPECTARIS -- announce that the inaugural event, which closed today, provided a solid foundation on which to build the future L.A.B. shows. The conference and exhibition attracted world-class attendees including Metrohm, Eppendorf and Thermo Fisher Scientific and reached the exhibitor targets set by the organizers. For the first ever L.A.B. show in the UK, the visitor numbers were encouraging -- reaching 1,300 -- and can only increase as the show gains in momentum. The organizers now feel that there is a very strong platform on which to create an outstanding event which exceeds all of the exhibitors' and delegates' expectations.
Eighty-eight companies exhibited at the L.A.B. exhibition, showcasing a range of products and solutions for the pharmaceutical, chemical, medical and environmental industries as well as food and drink, and public and private sectors. Exhibitors came from countries around the globe, for example France, Germany, Finland, the UK, the Netherlands and the US.
"With L.A.B. we found a perfectly organized show," commented Kai Holm, Area Sales Manager at Erlab. "We will come back as exhibitors at L.A.B. 2009."
"L.A.B. 2007 was very well organized and the facilities were excellent," added Andrew Bell, Sales Manager at Anachem Ltd.
The comprehensive industry conference program included presentations on prevalent issues including 'Laboratory Safety and Biosafety', 'Laboratory Equipment in Hospitals and Healthcare' and 'The Pharmaceutical Laboratory'. Speaking at the conference, Graeme Parkin, Principal Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, commented, "In my opinion, L.A.B. offers an ideal forum for scientists and laboratory managers to meet and to share ideas. The different conference streams address practical relevant issues of the industry." The delegates represented the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, healthcare and food and beverage sectors.
"Together with our exhibitors and industry partners, Leipziger Messe is looking forward to staging a world class event in 2009 and beyond," comments Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Leipziger Messe. "We are committed to working closely with this year's exhibitors in order to create an event that surpasses all expectations. Feedback from the leading companies exhibiting at L.A.B. 2007 suggests that we have developed a good formula for a UK show, and that combined with their suggested amendments, we will produce a platform on which companies can successfully showcase their products in 2009. We appreciate the support of all our exhibitors and attendees who made the first show happen."
L.A.B. closed with a total of 88 exhibitors, 1,300 trade visitors and approximately 120 conference delegates. A biennial event, the next L.A.B. will be held in the UK in the second half of 2009.
