• New 'AquaFence' office set to provide solution to rising flood protection costs
WARWICKSHIRE, UK, Oct. 23, 2007 -- With the true costs of this year's devastating floods only now coming to light, a new contender is spearheading the fight against flooding in the UK. AquaFence is an innovative, semi-mobile and mobile flood protection wall that not only promises greater performance and strength than sandbags, but is more cost effective.
AquaFence's new UK office in Alcester, Warwickshire will be officially opened by Stratford-On-Avon MP John Maples, on 26th Oct. 2007. The opening of the UK office ensures that AquaFence is readily available to UK local authorities, utility companies, businesses and homeowners at risk of flooding.
"Following recent news reports regarding governmental funding for the flooding problem in the UK, cost is becoming a vital factor in how flooding is addressed in both the short and long term," commented John Stead, Managing Director, UK and Ireland, AquaFence UK. "Relative to sandbags, the most common form of flood protection, AquaFence has the potential to maximize budgets due to a low initial cost and the fact that it can be used over and over again, whereas sandbags are strictly one-use only."
The patented design of AquaFence addresses many of the inherent failings of traditional flood protection methods such as high costs, low strength and water leakage, slow deployment and expensive and time-consuming disposal.
"An AquaFence wall costs little more than the same sized sandbag wall, which can only be used once. Whereas sandbags generate approximately the same costs during every flooding incident, once you have AquaFence as part of your flood fighting arsenal, you never need pay out further significant costs," comments John Stead. "We're looking forward to helping the flood-hit communities in the UK to prepare for the next flooding episode. AquaFence provides huge savings in the long term, so we're expecting plenty of interest in this innovative Norwegian system in the UK."
