PORTLAND, ME, June 26, 2007 -- Albert R. Curran, co-founder of Woodard & Curran, has announced that Douglas McKeown has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Curran in the role he has held for the past 30 years. The announcement was made at the firm's June 20th Board of Directors meeting, and then immediately shared with the firm's 500 employees.
McKeown joined Woodard & Curran in 1992 as head of business development for the firm's Operations and Management business, where he played an instrumental role in that business's startup and success. In 1996 he was elected to the position of Senior Vice President and became the firm's first Director of Marketing, a position he held from 1999 to 2002. In 2002 he returned to the firm's Operations and Management business center, leading it to its position today, operating nearly 50 treatment facilities nationwide, including the world's largest water reuse facility, located in Winter Garden, Florida. Throughout his career he has worked extensively in the municipal, federal, and industrial sectors.
McKeown has been a member of the firm's Board of Directors since 2001, chairing both the Finance and the Business and Market Leadership Committees.
He has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton and an M.B.A. from Boston College.
In making the announcement Curran noted, "We were fortunate to have exceptionally qualified candidates from within the firm. We were seeking a leader who understands our Consulting and O&M businesses, has a solid background in business, finance, and marketing, and defines our brand promise of "Commitment and Integrity Drive Results." Doug is all of that and more -- a proven leader with a passion for who we are, all that we do, and for the business of the business."
Curran also announced that he will serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In that role he will support the CEO on special projects and focus on client development and external marketing activities.
Woodard & Curran is a 500-person, integrated engineering, science, and operations company. Privately held and steadily growing, the firm serves public and private clients locally and nationwide.
