• Two leaders in water conservation join forces to offer expanded product lines

DALLAS, TX, June 25, 2007 -- Weathermatic, a landscape industry leader in smart irrigation technology, has announced the acquisition of Salco, a well-known manufacturer of low volume products for residential, commercial and municipal installations. The announcement was made by Mike Mason, president of Weathermatic.

"With the acquisition of Salco, Weathermatic now offers distributors and landscape contractors a broader range of 'smart irrigation' products to help meet the increasing demand for more efficient water delivery systems," said Mason.

"We envision outstanding opportunities to expand Weathermatic and Salco product lines, while developing new technologies for water conservation both here in the U.S. and abroad," he said.

Under the leadership of owners Travis Komara and Shelly Walker, Salco has propelled its sales more than tenfold in the last eight years, based on innovative, high quality products and customer service.

"We are delighted that this dynamic team will continue to oversee management and production at Salco's southern California plant," said Mason.

"We view their transition as 'buying into' Weathermatic and SmartLine's market strength, rather than 'selling the business,'" he said.

Financial details on the acquisition were not provided.

Weathermatic has been a leader in water conservation and irrigation technology for more than 60 years. The company's SmartLine series of weather-based controllers has won "Best New Product of the Year" awards from professional associations and SmartLine controllers have been featured in water-saving exchange programs throughout the West. Weathermatic SmartLine controllers, rotors, sprays and valves are sold in 60 countries worldwide.

Salco was founded in 1967 by Sam Tobey, a pioneer in low volume technology, who introduced low flow irrigation to public areas, particularly along interstate highway systems across the country.

In 1999 the Fontana, California-based company was purchased by Komara and Walker. Salco manufactures a full line of drip irrigation products, including dripline, pressure-compensating emitters, filters, flush valves and a wide range of accessories.
