• 80th annual conference will address future water and wastewater issues in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ, April 3, 2007 -- Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN; www.lan-inc.com) is pleased to announce that its Water Resources Manager, Floyd L. Marsh, will speak at the 80th Annual Arizona Water and Pollution Control Association (AWPCA) Conference to be held at the Mesa Convention Center in Arizona from May 2-4, 2007. AWPCA is the state affiliate of the American Water Works Association.

Marsh recently organized and chaired the AWPCA Water Resources Committee, which is hosting two technical sessions at the upcoming conference. Marsh's presentation titled, "Recharge Master Planning, Well Design and Installation for City of Surprise, Arizona," will address the issues and challenges of master planning recharge of reclaimed water reuse in a municipal service area and site-specific recharge well design. It also will encompass operational features, filtration requirements of reclaimed water to maximize well life and productivity, and filter selection parameters.

"Floyd Marsh is a specialist in recharge, reuse and water master planning with more than 25 years of water and wastewater resource experience," said LAN President Dennis Petersen. "His presentation will be invaluable to water resource and municipal utility professionals."

The theme of the conference is, "80 Years of Leadership -- Forging Our Water Future," and will showcase five main issues: Strategic Assessment of the Future of Water Utilities, Water Resources Planning, Arsenic Treatment, Small Systems and Safety. Other areas of emphasis include water and wastewater treatment, reuse/recharge, water distribution systems, utility management, disinfection choices and pipe rehabilitation.
