KANSAS CITY, MO, April 18, 2007 -- Tnemec Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance protective coatings for specialized industrial and architectural markets, has named Vaughn O'Dea as director of sales, Water and Wastewater Treatment, according to Chase Bean, vice president of sales.

"Since becoming technical sales manager two years ago, Vaughn has focused on steering sales strategies with Tnemec's Perma-Shield products and bolstered our brand image in a growth market," Bean acknowledged. "Vaughn has established himself as a go-to resource and he has consistently advanced our reputation among professionals in the industry."

Through his work with engineers and facility owners, O'Dea has focused on the corrosive conditions in today's wastewater treatment facilities, as well as the use of high-performance coating and lining technologies designed to withstand these severe environments.

Bean cited O'Dea's considerable knowledge and experience from his years as a Tnemec technical service representative specializing in epoxy technology development, product failure analyses, specification review and internal and external technical development.

"Vaughn's technical expertise, presentation skills and work ethic will be invaluable in his new position where he will be responsible for growing sales in our water and wastewater markets," Bean noted. Active in NACE International and The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) technical committees, O'Dea is a SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector and a NACE Certified Corrosion Technician. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association, International Concrete Repair Institute, American Concrete Institute and Water Environment Federation. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan., and has an associate's degree in Construction Management.

O'Dea has authored numerous technical reports and articles for publications such as the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings, Materials Performance, Public Works Magazine, and WaterWorld.

Prior to joining Tnemec, O'Dea worked as a construction manager and protective coatings specialist for Black & Veatch, Overland Park, Kan., where he supervised the construction of various water and wastewater plant expansions.

Established in 1921, Tnemec is one of the largest privately held companies in the U.S., specializing in industrial coatings for steel, concrete and other substrates for new construction and maintenance.
