• American Water's Underground Infrastructure Group will be folded into Reynolds Inliner
PAOLI, IN, April 18, 2007 -- Layne Christensen, parent company of Inliner Technologies, has acquired American Water Services' Underground Infrastructure Group, Inc. (UIG) for $28.6 million -- a move that will double the expected installations of Inliner Technologies' method of cured-in-place pipe, and make it the second largest CIPP company in the U.S.
UIG is being folded into Reynolds Inliner, a full-service wastewater system renewal contractor with offices throughout the Midwest and southern U.S.
Inliner Technologies is served by a network of certified installers including not only sister company Reynolds Inliner but also Kenny Construction Company, Lametti & Sons, and Western Slope Utilities. With combined installation billings of approximately 120 million for 2006, it is expected that the acquisition of UIG will increase Inliner® installations two-fold.
"Layne's acquisition of UIG will give Reynolds Inliner a presence in the Northeast, greatly expand our Florida operations and add to our already strong presence in both the Midwest and Southeast," said Denise McClanahan, director of engineering for Reynolds Inliner. "UIG is highly respected in the industry and one with whom we are glad to be joined."
UIG's current customers can expect to receive the same great service under the Reynolds Inliner name, and the confidence that comes with being part of the Inliner® network, according to Geoff Yothers, director of Inliner Technologies.
"Inliner takes pride in its commitment to ongoing R&D to provide our customers with a proven technology," said Yothers. "With more than 8 million feet of Inliner successfully installed in the U.S., our customers can have confidence knowing the life of their systems will be extended another 50 or more years. "
CIPP technology involves a process of impregnating a felt tube with resin, which is then inserted into the pipe and cured with heated water or air. The result is a pipe-within-a-pipe, securely bonded to withstand normal pressure and loads previously carried by the pipe it has renewed. Since the finished product can have greater hydraulic properties than the host pipe, a pipe renewed with CIPP does not lose as much effective capacity, as would be expected with a decrease in diameter.
Inliner Technologies Inc. is one of the largest CIPP companies in the U.S., with four certified installers performing pipe renewal projects throughout the nation. Certified installers include Reynolds Inliner; Western Slope Utilities; Kenny Construction Co.; and Lametti & Sons. Inliner Technologies maintains headquarters at 1468 West Hospital Road, Paoli, Ind.
