MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND, April 18, 2007 -- ProMinent Fluid Controls' wholly-owned subsidiary, Proshield, based in Motherwell Scotland, has been awarded an order for £750.000 from GMJV for monosodium phosphate dosing packages for lead removal in water distribution pipes. GMJV is a part of Scottish Water Solutions (SWS) Ltd and SWS was formed by Scottish Water to manage and deliver some 70% of its Quality & Standards 11 (Q&S11) capital investment programme.
Consistent dosing of monosodium phosphate at the appropriate concentration into the water distribution system results in calcium phosphate being formed from calcium salts in the water which deposits as an inert coating on the inside of the pipework, preventing any lead from the pipe getting into the drinking water supply.
Proshield worked closely with Scottish Water Solutions to design the packages, which were based around ProMinent's gamma/L precision dosing pump. The dosing skids were built by ProMinent UK and Proshield undertook site installation.
Proshield's status as framework supplier to Scottish Water for the Q&S11 programme has also been extended by twelve months.
