• GeoISE Adds Geographic Search Capabilities to EMC Documentum Repositories
WELLESLEY, MA, May 21, 2007 -- Trinity Technologies Corporation, a leading business consulting and technology service company, announced today the release of GeoISE, a geographically enabled content management solution for utility companies. Powered by MetaCarta, a leading provider of geographic search solutions, GeoISE combines powerful geographic search with traditional text or keyword search so that content in EMC® Documentum® repositories can be mapped, categorized, and displayed using geographic parameters on maps, GIS systems, and virtually any spatial display.
Increasingly required to access information about their electric, gas, or water distribution networks, utilities need to bring together traditional document management and geographic information systems (GIS). Geographically enabled content management systems can positively impact each of these areas, allowing easy access to different heritages of document control, forms, procedures, design drawings, maintenance information, systems, and workflows.
GeoISE can quickly and efficiently search and retrieve documents, drawings, sketches and procedures related to a particular address and place them on a map. By placing relevant documents on a map or GIS system, users visualize and see all relevant information related to an address, street intersection, building, etc., spending significantly less time searching for information and ensuring both safe and comprehensive work tasks. For example, utility companies can access information for mobile maintenance, outage management, and disaster recovery. Also available is the ability to view geographic relationships and trends in activities over a period of time, enabling users to make better and more accurate business decisions.
"Through the GeoISE search capabilities, Trinity Technologies is helping joint customers further leverage the business content within their EMC Documentum platforms," said EMC's Jay DeWalt, Vice President of Indirect and Solution Sales, Worldwide, for Content Management & Archiving. "We see significant value opportunities for delivering the Documentum platform through GeoISE to utilities, telecommunication companies, and municipalities."
"With this partnership we are able to bridge documents and geographic search and to help companies work more rapidly and efficiently. Geographic information is an imperative component for utility companies. GeoISE will permit customers to leverage geographic information that currently exists in data repositories throughout a company," said John Donnelly III, Vice President Worldwide Sales and Field Operations at MetaCarta.
