• Ian Pearson MP, Tom Harris MP and Gillian Merron MP to give evidence to Lords Regulators Committee

LONDON, May 10, 2007 -- The House of Lords Select Committee on Regulators will next week to hear evidence from Ian Pearson MP, Minister for water issues, Tom Harris MP, Minister for rail and Gillian Merron MP Minister for aviation.

The session is part of the Committee's ongoing investigation into the role and performance of the UK's major economic regulators. The Ministers will be asked about their views on the performance of regulators in their portfolio area.

Pearson will be questioned on Ofwat's performance and the possibility of introducing more competition in the water market. Merron will be asked about Civil Aviation Authority's role in regulating the aviation industry.

The evidence session will take place in Committee Room 4 of the House of Lords at 4:10pm on Tuesday 15 May 2007.
