SARASOTA, FL, May 1, 2001 -- The Sarasota office of Carollo Engineers announces that Laura Baumberger has been recognized as the 2006 Young Professional of the Year by the American Water Works Association Florida Section (FS/AWWA).

Baumberger is the Vice-Chair of the Florida Section Young Professionals (YP) Committee and received this award due to her active involvement in the Florida Section and its YP activities. For the past three years, Baumberger has led and supported a number of statewide and regional events. She planned the YP Summer Seminar and Golf Tournament in 2004, the Summer Seminar in 2006, two FS/AWWA bowling tournaments, and tours of a reservoir and water treatment plant. She has also been instrumental over the past three years in the success of her local FS/AWWA Region Model Water Tower Competition for middle and high school students. Baumberger has also contributed nationally, participating in the 2005 AWWA National Leadership Summit and hosting on-camera interviews for the AWWA teleconference The Aging Work Force.
