KISSIMMEE, FL, May 13, 2007 -- Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has announced that Chris M. Gent has been promoted to vice president of corporate communications, from his position as manager of corporate communications.
Gent continues to report to Jim Welsh, president and general manager of the utility.
Gent is responsible for internal and external corporate communications, including marketing and advertising, media and public relations, employee communications, special events and corporate philanthropy.
"Chris has done a tremendous job representing KUA through the execution of a variety of communications programs that have enhanced the utility's profile," said Welsh. "His extraordinary communication and organizational skills will serve him well in this enhanced role."
Gent is a member of the Florida Public Relations Association and the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors. He also serves on the board of directors of Community Vision, the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, the Orlando Deanery Boychoir and the government access channel Access Osceola.
Gent, who has more than 19 years of corporate communications experience, joined KUA in May 1993. He began his career as communications coordinator at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in downtown Orlando. Gent holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Central Florida.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
