Leonard to be next AWWA president-elect
DENVER, Feb. 6, 2007 -- Mike Leonard, water operations manager in Roswell, GA, was elected to the American Water Works Association officer line Jan. 21 at the winter meeting of the board of directors.
Leonard will assume the office of president-elect in June during the AWWA conference in Toronto when current President-Elect Nilaksh Kothari becomes president of AWWA.
Leonard began his 36-year career at the Atlanta Water Bureau working in various positions. He has served as drinking water chief for the US Environmental Protection Agency, Region IV, general manager for the Atlanta-Fulton County (Ga.) Water Resources Commission, and Client Technical Services Manager for the consulting firm of Brown and Caldwell.
He wants to strengthen the partnership between the sections and the parent organization of AWWA and communicate the value of water to the public and policy makers.
