ST. PAUL, MN, Sept. 20, 2004 -- Lametti & Sons, a licensee of Inliner Technologies, has completed the renewal of more than 7,000 feet of residential wastewater pipe under an approximately $1.47 million contract with the city of St. Paul, Minn., Department of Public Works.

The project entailed installation of Inliner Technologies' method of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) to rehabilitate the aging pipe, which ranged from 30" to 72" in diameter.

The clay tile and brick wastewater pipes, located along Edgecumbe and Niles Roads on the city's southwest side, suffered from infiltration at the joints, as well as calcium build-up.

The lines are located in a residential neighborhood, so the project required Lametti to spend an extensive amount of time coordinating the reinstatement of the area's many service laterals. This meant that considerable public communication was necessary due to extended periods of sewer outage during repairs.

Joel Mueller, sewer design engineer, oversaw the project for the city. Dan Banken was project manager for Lametti & Sons.

About CIPP
CIPP technology allows for the rehabilitation of damaged underground wastewater and storm sewer pipe without excavating. The process reduces noise, traffic disturbance, and road damage - and can be done in a shorter time frame and for less cost than replacing existing lines. With Inliner's method, a felt tube - saturated with resin and coated with a waterproof layer - is inserted into the pipe. Hot water is circulated through the tube, which hardens the resin. This material serves as a barrier between the damaged pipe and the wastewater that flows through it, or as a new stand-alone pipeline.
