HOUSTON, TX, Sept. 10, 2004 -- Headworks Inc. and JWC Environmental, of Costa Mesa, CA, jointly announce the signing of a settlement agreement. At issue is the Headworks Inc. U.S. Patent 5,730,862 titled "Bar Screen with Rotating Rakes" and claims regarding methods of blockage sensing, numbers of automatic reversals and rake structure.

Both companies manufacture Chain Rake Screens and other devices for use in water and wastewater.

In the agreement, Headworks grants JWCE certain limited rights to Headworks' proprietary technology covered by the patent. JWCE and Headworks have agreed to certain operations of JWCE's equipment which does not replicate Headworks' screening technology.

Both parties remain committed to the mutual respect of the others Intellectual Property and the inquiry is closed.
