WARRENDALE, PA, Dec. 2, 2004 -- USFilter was recently awarded a $1 million contract to provide water and wastewater system and services to its long-term semiconductor customer in the Northwest United States. The new system was part of an expansion to increase capacity, improve water quality and reduce overall operating costs. The manufacturer looked to USFilter to provide innovative space planning and integration of new equipment into the existing ultrapure water treatment system, with no down time.

After a review of the current system, USFilter applied its patented WINCPD® process planning to determine if new technologies could be used to increase the efficiency of the ultrapure water system. USFilter determined that the best approach would be to upgrade the single-pass reverse osmosis (RO) system to a II-PLP® RO system to extend the life of the polishing system, provide consistent water quality and reduce operating costs.

The turnkey project included process design, application engineering, equipment installation and project management. USFilter is also providing off-site regeneration services, which eliminate the need for chemicals and related discharge at the customer site. This project is an extension of the equipment and services provided to this customer's multiple facilities.

Terry Ovstedal, USFilter sales engineer stated, "It was a great opportunity to bring the entire team together - project management, sales, process engineering and installation departments - to ensure the expansion brought zero down time to the customer's factory."

USFilter Corp. (www.usfilter.com), a Siemens company, delivers cost-effective, reliable water and wastewater treatment systems and services to municipal, industrial, commercial and institutional customers worldwide. USFilter is part of Siemens' Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S), which provides innovative solutions and services designed to improve competitiveness in processing and manufacturing industries and in infrastructure.
