SÃO PAULO, Brasil, Oct. 4, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Arch Chemicals Inc., whose HTH® Water Products business is a leader in the Brazilian swimming pool treatment market, has expanded into Argentina by entering into a marketing alliance with Clorotec, a leading pool product company based in Buenos Aires.

Under the agreement, whose terms were not disclosed, Arch will assume responsibility for selling the Clorotec® and MagicPool® brands in Argentina, and Clorotec will manufacture and package those products exclusively for Arch.

"We're excited by the opportunities in Argentina, which is an attractive market with a well-established and growing base of pool and spa owners," explained Paolo Vodopivic, president of Arch Quimica Brasil Ltda. "Clorotec knows the market very well, it has built well-respected brands, and it has a strong customer base that includes both specialty pool dealers and mass merchants. This provides a strong foundation for showcasing our HTH® product line and capitalizing on Clorotec's brands."

Established in 1982, Clorotec grew to become one of the leading pool product suppliers in Argentina, offering treatment chemicals, pool maintenance products and accessories.

A business within the Company's Treatment Products business segment, Arch's HTH Water Products business (www.hthpools.com) offers a full range of swimming pool and spa treatment chemicals and accessories. In addition to the HTH line, its major brands include Pace®, Baquacil®, BaquaSpa®, Hypocal®, Sock It®, Pulsar® and POOLIFE®.
