DUBLIN, OH, Oct. 12, 2004 -- Ashland Drew Industrial, a business group of Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc., is increasing prices on water treatment chemicals by 7-9%, effective November 1. Products with high hydrocarbon-derived raw materials content may see higher increases.

Ashland has a long track record of cost containment through productivity and operational excellence gains. These increases are due to surging costs for raw materials, packaging and transportation. Raw materials based on petroleum feedstocks have seen dramatic increases due to the sustained rise in global oil and natural gas prices, with certain raw material supplies becoming severely limited.

"Our ISO 9000-certified service programs are designed to increase efficiency and reduce costs, thus leading to lower total cost of operation for our customers," said Len Gelosa, senior vice president, Water Technologies, Ashland Specialty Chemical. "New Ashland products and services, including ONGUARD® on-line electronic service, the SONOXIDETM system for non-chemical microbial control, and ENVIROPLUSTM environmentally considerate cooling water treatment can also assist Ashland customers in reducing overall costs despite the price change."
