WEFTEC 2024 will take place in New Orleans, LA over five days between Oct. 5 and 9. The conference and exhibition will host more than 21,000 participants, showcase more than 1,000 exhibitors, have greaterthan 120 technical sessions to choose from, include 17 half and full-day workshops, and organize six facility tours local to the area.

WEF is giving back to its host city by facilitating the assemblage of laundry kits for families who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House and STEM kits for Community Works of Louisiana, sparking curiosity and supporting hands-on learning for local children. Interested volunteers can go to the Hilton Riverside and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to participate. These events will take place from Oct. 5 to 8.

There will also be two other oppurtunities for community engagemnet at St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans. The first is Water Palooza. It is an annual event, held the Friday before WEFTEC, and it is an educational fair at a local elementary school. Students engage in activities that highlight the importance of water conservation and environmental stewardship. To volunteer Contact Ama Richardson at [email protected].

The other is the WEF Community Service Project and is scheduled for Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers can build, plant, paint, and rehabilitate an outdoor worksite. To sign-up for this free event, add it when you register for WEFTEC. If you have already registered for WEFTEC, you can contact customer service and ask them to help you add it to your profile.

Key seesion tracks will feature asset management, circular water economy, business organization and technology transformation, energy production, conservation and management, one water management, PFAS, pubic communication and outreach, reuse and reclamation, utility management and leadership, facility operations and maintenance, municipal wastewater treatment design, and workforce.
