The following is a list of educational sessions, hand picked from the editors of WaterWorld, that you won't want to miss.

All times are listed as local time (MDT).

Monday, June 9

  • Opening General Session (9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.): The Opening General Session will kick off the start of the conference, highlighting award recipients, remarks from AWWA and a topical keynote speaker.
  • Advancing the Water Sector Through Artificial Intelligence (2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.): This session will explore how AI is transforming the water sector. It will focus on innovations that enhance water management, conservation and quality. Experts will share insights on using AI for optimization and improvements.
  • Funding and Management Strategies for Building Resilient Small Systems (2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.): This session will focus on how small water systems can use strategic planning, management practices and funding mechanisms to build resilience. Experts will share practical funding and management strategies that small systems can use to build resilience, upgrade infrastructure and ensure continuous service.

Tuesday, June 10

  • Inventive Approaches to Controlling Lead in Drinking Water (8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.): This session will feature three presentations that explore innovative solutions to tackle lead contamination. The presentations will focus on the source of lead in blood, lead release from lead pipes and non-invasive technologies for identifying lead service lines.
  • Drinking Water Utility Preparedness for Wildland-Urban Interface Fires (1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.): This session will explore how to view wildfires through the lens of infrastructure impacts. It will focus on the conditions and vulnerabilities that allow fires to significantly impact water systems.
  • Checking in on PFAS: A Mid-2025 Update on PFAS Related MultiDistrict Litigation (3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This session will be an interactive discussion between legal and water utility experts and will provide an update on PFAS regulations from a legal and operational perspective. The discussion will include challenges to the MDL and MCL and/or CERCLA.

Wednesday, June 11

  • Hot Topic Session on Lead Service Line Replacement Programs (8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.): This session will identify and focus on the issue of the lead and copper rule associated with private property and replacing service laterals. It will explore funding strategies or programs that have been developed to address these service laterals.
  • Empowering the Next Generation: Growing and Sustaining the Water Workforce (10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.): This session will focus on internship programs and overall workforce development and hiring. It will highlight why having trained young professionals in-house can impact projects.
  • Cyber Security in Innovation and the Circular Economy (1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This session will explore the responsibilities and expertise of governing agencies, manufacturers, consultants and system integrators in designing, developing and implementing a secure-by-design solution.
