JB Neethling, P.E., Ph.D.
JB Neethling, P.E., Ph.D., is HDR's national technical director for wastewater. He has more than 29 years of wastewater engineering experience and directs process design for HDR's largest and most complex wastewater treatment projects nationwide, including the Unified Sewage Agency BNR plant that had a permit to meet 0.07 mg/L total phosphorus, the strictest limits in the United States. He serves on the WERF programming committee and is principal investigator for the WERF Nutrient Removal Challenge. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, and master's and doctorate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
