MONTREAL, Oct. 2, 2001 — EARTH (Canada) announced that it recently received an order from Ontario Power Generation for a water treatment system for its nuclear plant in Pickering, Ontario.
This order is the second one placed by OPG as a result of the success of the first system installed two years ago.
The Pickering plant is located on the shores of Lake Ontario just east of Toronto and nestled in the community of Pickering and is one of the world's largest nuclear generating facilities with a total output of 4,120 megawatts enough to serve a city of two million people. This new RPA® system will treat approximately 16,000 litres per year of oily water generated by the power turbines and will assure a discharge level well within regulatory standards.
Commenting on this sale, MJ Plebon, VP Sales, states: " there is no better testimonial from a customer than that resulting in a repeat order. EARTH (Canada) is delighted that RPA® is playing its part in OPG's environmental and sustainable development initiatives." He adds: "OPG particularly liked the reusability of RPA and the fact that no waste is created from our treatment process."
