Mesa Solutions implements Enterprise-wide GIS for the City of Jacksonville Beach

MESA Solutions, a consultant and systems integrator for utility companies, today announced the successful implementation of Miner & Miner's (M&M) ArcFM™ GIS solution for the City of Jacksonville Beach Municipal Utilities Department.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 15, 2001 — MESA Solutions, a consultant and systems integrator for utility companies, today announced the successful implementation of Miner & Miner's (M&M) ArcFM™ GIS solution for the City of Jacksonville Beach Municipal Utilities Department.

A strategic alliance between M&M and MESA was announced in March 200l to jointly market, sell and implement the ArcFM suite of products to a wider customer base. The City of Jacksonville will utilize ArcFM for managing the electric and water facilities design, management and mapping records for the City of Jacksonville Beach.

Jacksonville Beach, a large resort community with a residential population of just over 21,000, is located on a barrier island in Northeast Florida. According to Donald Terrell, Jacksonville Beach GIS project manager, "We needed a solution with a high level of flexibility to allow us to introduce new applications and services at our own pace. Our goal with the ArcFM and ESRI™ data management implementation is to establish electric, water, and parcel repositories that can be leveraged by other city departments, such as police, fire, building inspection, and park facilities."

MESA was selected in December 2000 by the City of Jacksonville to provide GIS systems integration for Jacksonville Beach. Project requirement specifications included the modification of ArcFM's electric model, storm water data migration from a legacy system to ArcFM water model, and the development of a field inventory requirements specification. The city will also utilize ESRI's ArcIMS™ to facilitate web-based enterprise level viewing and analysis - enabling multiple city departments to leverage the information managed within the ArcFM GIS. The second phase of the project calls for integrating ArcFM with the cities' work management system to expedite work order design and processing.

Mark Varenhorst, vice president of MESA Solutions' utility practice says, "Working with the City of Jacksonville Beach has proved to be a satisfying partnership with Miner & Miner and a successful project for delivering services on-time and within budget. We are pleased to be able to recognize the City of Jacksonville Beach's commitment to improving its operations, providing faster response to their customers and strategic services to their community."
