TULSA, OK, July 29, 2009 -- POWER-GEN Middle East has announced the dates for the 2010 event, which sees the annual exhibition and conference move to Doha, Qatar for the first time in its nine-year history.

Considered the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, transmission & distribution and water industries, POWER-GEN Middle East will be held at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre, Doha, 4 - 6 October 2010.

Qatar's power generation is expected to increase by a demanding 193.5 per cent before the year 2018, almost top of the range for the MENA region. The country will account for 1.85 per cent of Middle East and Africa (MEA) regional power generation by 2013, having a broadly balanced market throughout the period. According to the forecasts the country will experience an increase in generation to 1,609 TWh by 2013, representing a rise of 44 per cent between 2007 and the end of the period. *

New Solutions for the Region's Power & Water Challenges
Responding to this growth and vitality in Qatar and following the huge success of the event over the past eight years, POWER-GEN Middle East Conference and Exhibition 2010 will be held in Doha, Qatar and will be held under the Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of the Board, Qatar Power.

POWER-GEN Middle East 2010 will be co-hosted by Qatar Power, majority owned by Qatar Electricity & Water Company and owners of the Ras Laffan B IWPP.
