CALGARY, Alberta, Canada, Feb. 6, 2006 -- Telvent North America announced the appointment of Alberto (Al) Rivero to the position of business development director for the oil & gas industry. In this role, Rivero will be focusing his talents primarily on North American oil and gas industry integration projects. Based in Houston, he will be working closely with staff in Telvent's Houston, Baltimore, Fort Collins and Calgary offices.

Rivero has over 25 years of experience in the petroleum industry, with a broad range of duties and responsibilities, including maintenance engineering, project management, information and control system management, and regulatory compliance strategy. In addition to more than two decades of experience with the Chevron group of companies, he was also president and CEO of ANG Consulting, a company that assists clients with integrated IT infrastructure strategy development and helps to facilitate system integration. He holds degrees in electrical engineering and computational mathematics and is a member of various industry and professional organizations, including the American Energy Standards Board, Electricity Consumer Resource Council, and Energy Producers and Users Coalition (California).

"I am personally very enthusiastic about welcoming Mr. Rivero to our Telvent team," said Dave Jardine, president and chairman of Telvent in North America. "His years of experience in the oil and gas industry, combined with his natural ability to help organizations achieve their operational and IT objectives are an excellent fit with our company's strategic vision. We have some aggressive growth targets for 2006 and we are extremely pleased that Mr. Rivero will be part of the team to help us meet those targets. I am anticipating that he will play an integral role in our strategy to assist energy companies with aggregating and interconnecting their IT subsystems across the enterprise, creating a seamless, integrated RealTime IT solution enabling them to deal effectively with ever increasing internal and external challenges such as security, safety, operating costs, competition, governance, and regulatory issues. I refer to this as 'assuring integrity of information management from the meter head to the annual report'. Telvent has developed a strong reputation for industry leadership in the North American oil and gas sector. We believe that the addition of Mr. Rivero's expertise and vision will contribute to building on this enviable position."
