VOORHEES, NJ, Oct. 20, 2009 -- Matt Bubien, a call handling supervisor in American Water's customer service center in Pensacola, Florida, joins local children for a snapshot in the village of Njereza in Malawi during a one-week Water For People Country Tour in September. Bubien, who said the best part of the trip was spending time with the kids and the hardest was leaving them at the end of the day, was selected to participate in the country tour from a random drawing of employees who contributed to the company's 2009 fundraising campaign. American Water, which has sponsored an employee's participation in a country tour for the last three years, has made an annual contribution to Water For People since it was established 18 years ago and to date has contributed a total of more $1.2 million.

Water For People Country Tours give participants the extraordinary opportunity to travel to rural communities for a first-hand look at sustainable water and sanitation projects in progress and the vast difference they are making in people's lives.
