MWH Treatment wins Severn Trent framework contracts

May 14, 2019
The agreement extends an existing 20-year relationship and MWH Treatment (MWHT) will develop and deliver a share of the £2 billion capital works program, providing work for up to eight years.

COVENTRY, UK, MAY 14, 2019 -- Water sector specialist MWH Treatment has been awarded a place on Severn Trent's AMP7 (regulatory asset management period 2020-25) framework for both design-and-build and build-only water and wastewater treatment projects. The agreement extends an existing 20-year relationship and MWH Treatment (MWHT) will develop and deliver a share of the £2 billion capital works program, providing work for up to eight years.

Paul Bresnan, managing director, MWH Treatment said, "We are delighted to be continuing our work for Severn Trent. This is a long and trusted relationship which strengthens with every AMP we work on.

"AMP7 provides a great opportunity for us to continue to maximize efficiencies through innovation and digital delivery, whilst identifying and implementing resilient solutions that will support Severn Trent in meeting their regulatory challenges. Getting fast-track status from Ofwat means Severn Trent can make an early start in planning for AMP7, helping smooth out the AMP's cyclical spend in delivering programms and projects efficiently."

MWHT is one of the few remaining truly integrated design-and-build team in the UK water industry, with a 300+ strong multi-disciplined in-house design team. The company was quick to adopt the acceleration of digital engineering through to digital delivery in AMP5 and AMP6 by establishing agile, multi-skilled teams collaborating directly with supply chain, partners and clients.

Bresnan said, "Winning a place on STW's first AMP7 frameworks allows us to grow our direct delivery capability further, whilst supporting Seven Trent and adapting to their needs as they build their in-house engineering capacity. We are already planning our AMP7 work to maximize efficiency and will be engaging with new players in the supply chain as soon as the documentation is complete."

MWHT is ideally placed to work closely with Severn Trent having had an established regional base in Derby for 10 years. The company increasingly seeks to recruit locally and engage with nearby businesses wherever it operates, helping to boost the local economy.

The contractor is now preparing to engage closely with STW and other framework partners on strategic planning for delivery of the program as a whole. The AMP7 contract is currently being finalized, with planning commencing around June as AMP6 closes down.

Bresnan concluded, "The people working on this and past capital programs are STW's customers and communities, so they have a greater understanding of the issues being faced and the impact locally. Winning this bid is a testament to our people and strategic supply chain who provide real value to our delivery."
