Pennsylvania treatment facility for shale gas wastewater

Aquatech has been granted a permit to operate a central treatment facility in Tioga County, PA.

The facility, designed using Aquatech's MoSuite set of technologies, will deliver wastewater treatment and recycle services to the regional shale gas producers. The facility will include a pre-treatment and distillation evaporator designed to treat drill fluids, frac flowback, production brine and other wastewaters from exploration and production of conventional and unconventional oil and gas in the region.


MBBR technology to treat gold mine effluent in Canada

Headworks BIO has been awarded a contract by Claude Resources to deploy Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology to treat underground mine water at the Seabee Gold Mine in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Direct access to the mine site is restricted due to its remote location and local weather conditions. The Seabee Mine is situated in a remote location in Northern Canada where direct access to the mine site is restricted. The MBBR technology will be used to as a wastewater treatment process to lower the ammonia content of the mine effluent. During the process, the influent water will receive pre-treatment to have the Total Suspended Solids removed. The water will then be heated to 10°C and the effluent will be discharged safely into a large pond.


Bright UV lights in US attract buyer from Germany

Light source and system provider Heraeus Noblelight has acquired the Fusion UV Systems group, headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, US, from the British Spectris group. While Heraeus Noblelight focuses on the UV sterilization of drinking and industrial water and in the printing industry, Fusion UV is involved in the use of UV technology in the production of glass fibers and displays, e.g. for smartphones. It is hoped the merger will present high market coverage with a direct access to all industrial markets in the USA, Europe and Asia.
