California DWR announces groundwater grant applications, workshops

SACRAMENTO, Oct. 8, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Department of Water Resources announces that application packages for grants and loans for the Local Groundwater Assistance Program are now available.

Grants are available to conduct groundwater studies, monitoring, or groundwater management activities. The maximum grant amount is $250,000 per agency.

Applications for the Local Groundwater Assistance Program grant program can be obtained through the DWR website at: www.grantsloans.water.ca.gov/grants/assistance.cfm.

DWR also announces four October application workshops to inform interested parties of the requirements for submitting applications under the Local Groundwater Assistance Program. The workshops require no advanced registration. Dates and locations are as follows:

The Department of Water Resources operates and maintains the State Water Project, provides dam safety and flood control and inspection services, assists local water districts in water management and water conservation planning, and plans for future statewide water needs.
