DENVER, Colo., July 06, 2004 -- The largest organization of water professionals in the world just got larger. Membership in the American Water Works Association (AWWA) has reached an all-time high of 57,647 members, including 4,773 utility members and 1,205 service providers.

"Looking back over the year, it's easy to see why AWWA has continued to thrive," said Jack Hoffbuhr, executive director of AWWA. "AWWA has been the authoritative resource for drinking water since 1881, but our members never stop challenging themselves to do more, and to do it better. AWWA is dedicated to providing clean drinking water to the community, and it continues to lead the water profession by uniting the drinking water community."

"AWWA provides a wide variety of professional development and training activities to water professionals, and our publications distribute the most up-to-date data and information about drinking water trends, products, research and issues. Additionally, AWWA offers our members a compelling voice in our nation's capital regarding legislation and regulations impacting water utilities. Members clearly recognize the tremendous value of being a part of AWWA."
