IWLive gives operators effective decision-making ability in developing real-time response strategies through accurate hydraulic simulations.

Innovyze's V4.5 Generation of IWLive is a new version of its network hydraulic and water quality modeling, monitoring, forecasting, and SCADA integration software. Designed for water distribution control rooms, IWLive gives operators effective decision-making ability in developing real-time response strategies through hydraulic simulations that factor in energy costs, weather, demand history, real-time or delayed SCADA telemetry, and valve and pumping control scenarios. IWLive can also help users understand their system impacts on CO2 emissions and the effects of main breaks, pump and reservoir shutdowns, and other scheduled maintenance.

The V4.5 continuously assesses system performance and alerts operators to problems that may arise in the future, allowing them to quickly determine their severity and time of onset, as well as develop reliable response strategies to minimize downstream effects. Highlighted color coding on IWLive's interface also shows predicted problem areas, and a detailed map shows pipes, valves, pumps, reservoirs, and other water assets. The map's animation shows the development of the problem, while graphs show simulated pressures and reservoir levels.

A new Zones Tab designates certain networks into user-defined areas, allowing users to view warnings for each part of a network and quickly observe specific areas. IWLive also includes a new reporting method called Dashboards, a collection of user-defined graphical components used to display a high-level overview based on query results. It can be customized to suit organizational requirements and displayed either within IWLive or exported to many common formats.

There are also enhancements to database connectivity, enabling seamless integration with a utility's existing IT infrastructure. Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) provides a standard software interface for accessing almost any industry-compliant database management system. A new ability to automatically export IWLive results to a database following a simulation, along with four new types of export, expands the flexibility with which organizations can utilize its capabilities.
