In Thailand, Eastern Water Resour-ces Development and Management Plc (East Water) plans to inject up to US$ 116 million in a core raw water pipeline project and related businesses in the next three to five years.

The project, which will require US$ 105 million, involves the construction of raw water distribution pipelines on the eastern Bangkok periphery, as well as Nakhon Ratchasima and Prachin Buri.

The company plans to invest at least US$ 9.32 million in a 50:50 joint venture with Austria-based company to manufacture raw water pipelines for both domestic and export markets. The project is under the newly established East Hobas Pipes Co.

Company profits are expected to rise due to a projected 15% increase in industrial water use in eastern provinces, in addition to the government's policy to stop the use of artesian water in areas where tap water is available will boost the company's sales.
