DALLAS, TX, Apr. 15, 2011 -- EPA has awarded a $478,000 grant to Fort Bend County, Texas, to construct a drinking water plant and regional water distribution system.

Area residents have been contending with bad taste, color, and odor in their drinking water, possibly due to septic system contamination of private wells.

The new regional public water distribution system will provide residents with clean, reliable water. As the system is installed, the private wells will be plugged or disconnected from homes and used for irrigation.
