Since October 2006, Bruns has been vice president and regional manager for Aqua Illinois' Vermilion Division and Aqua Indiana's Indianapolis Division, overseeing utility management, regulatory affairs, and marketing and acquisition efforts in the two-state region. Prior to Aqua, Bruns served as Town Manager for the Town of Cumberland, Indiana where he provided executive-level guidance to the town's operating departments and wastewater utility, and worked closely with other central Indiana communities. Previously, Bruns held senior positions with Indianapolis Water Company and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and served as an associate faculty member for department of geology at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.
"Aqua will continue to rely on Tom's extensive operational background, strong leadership skills and successful acquisition experience to shape the future of our Indiana subsidiary," said Aqua America Chairman and CEO Nicholas DeBenedictis. "With a keen understanding of regulatory affairs in addition to utility and environmental issues, he is well-suited to continue our history of providing quality water and wastewater services to the families and employers we serve in Indiana."
