MONROE, OR, June 7, 2005 -- The city of Monroe liked what it saw. For the past five months, Operations Management International Inc. (OMI) has overseen Monroe's daily public works operations under a monthly management contract. The Monroe city council recently voted unanimously to enter a five-year contract with OMI for operations of its public works.

When Monroe lost their public works operator earlier this year, OMI's employees in nearby Lebanon recognized an opportunity to help a small, neighboring community. This short-term assistance was soon realized to have long-term potential.

"The relationship has proven to be a success, and we look forward to bringing cost savings and quality service to Monroe over the next five years," says OMI Project Manager Brian Helliwell, who has worked with Monroe over the past five months. "Monroe can be confident that OMI will operate public works with pride and an emphasis on enhancing the local environment."

OMI will hire a new employee to dedicate their time to Monroe, and nearby Lebanon will provide management support.

OMI (www.omiinc.com) is a leader in the management and operation of water and wastewater systems, providing a wide range of public-private partnership and outsourcing solutions for customers in government and industry. A member of the American, employee-owned CH2M Hill Companies Ltd., OMI offers complete infrastructure development, financing, design, and operations and maintenance services. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the company manages more than 180 water and wastewater facilities across the U.S., including 14 in Oregon.
