BATON ROUGE, LA, March 10, 2008 -- The Shaw Group Inc. announced that its Environmental & Infrastructure Group has been awarded a contract by the DeKalb County, Ga., Department of Watershed Management to provide the design, construction management and project management for a new wastewater interplant storage and conveyance system. The value of Shaw's five-year infrastructure services contract is approximately $20 million and will be included in the company's second quarter fiscal 2008 backlog.

"We look forward to providing infrastructure support on one of the largest ongoing wastewater programs in the southeastern United States," said Ronald W. Oakley, president of Shaw's Environmental & Infrastructure Group. "Shaw's expertise in wastewater treatment system design and regulatory compliance will provide long-term, cost-effective solutions for DeKalb County as it continues to grow."

Shaw will design the storage and conveyance system that will join the Snapfinger and Pole Bridge Creek wastewater treatment plants in southern DeKalb County. The system, which will include a tunnel that is five miles long and approximately 25 feet in diameter, will allow the transfer of sewage and/or treated effluent between each plant. The system will also include 50 million gallon-per-day influent lift stations at each of the two plants.

In addition to the interplant storage and conveyance system, the project includes preparation of a preliminary design concept, along with subsequent final design and construction management services, for a collection and conveyance system that will serve sewage basins in the rapidly growing eastern portion of DeKalb County.

The Shaw Group Inc. is a leading global provider of technology, engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, fabrication, manufacturing, consulting, remediation and facilities management services for government and private sector clients in the energy, chemicals, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response markets.
