Houston, Texas, March 25, 2004 -- The Environmental Affairs Division of the Texas Transportation Department, TxDOT, selected PBS&J to provide stormwater quality compliance assistance on a statewide basis.

TxDOT selected PBS&J because the firm offered an unmatched combination of technologies, knowledge, and experience in the stormwater compliance arena. Offered technologies include geographic information systems, global positioning systems, database development, and automated field data collection.

Regulatory and legal knowledge concerning updates on recent court decisions affecting stormwater permitting, and broad experience in stormwater permitting with numerous related city, county, and state projects further endorse the PBS&J selection.

PBS&J Executive Vice President James Bishop, P.E., noted, "PBS&J is honored that TxDOT has once again demonstrated confidence in the firm by selecting us for the stormwater quality compliance contract. The contract allows us to continue to serve the Department while helping safeguard one of our most important resources."

The two-year on-call contract is one of five awarded and will allow staff from TxDOT's Headquarters and Districts to access PBS&J regulatory and water quality experts who will provide assistance with permitting stormwater discharges from both construction activities and permanent roadway facilities.

PBS&J will also develop and implement compliance tracking and reporting technologies, conduct training, conduct automated field surveys of drainage system outfalls, provide audit and inspection services, and assist with the development of standard stormwater quality management designs and specifications. PBS&J's Michael F. Bloom, P.E., CFM, will serve as project manager.

PBS&J (www.pbsj.com) is a provider in the U.S. of infrastructure planning, engineering, construction management, and program management services. The employee-owned firm is ranked by Engineering News-Record as 25th among the nation's top consulting firms and has more than 3,200 employees and 60 offices located throughout the U.S. and abroad.
