Aqua Metrology Systems opens new innovation center

SUNNYVALE, CA, JULY 8, 2019 -- Aqua Metrology Systems (AMS) a pioneer in the prediction, control, and treatment of trace metals, is opening a new Innovation Center dedicated to the development and commercialization of the company’s innovative SafeGuard H2O system for reducing the risk of lead contamination to which, according to the EPA, six to 10 million U.S. households are exposed.

SafeGuard H2O is an Intelligent Water Treatment System incorporating real-time contaminant analysis with a proven in-situ trace metal remediation technology. It integrates AMS’s online lead analyzer for accurate, continuous and dynamic assessment of the presence of total lead in buildings or zones exposed to events that are the cause of acute lead contamination. It uses a proprietary in-situ water treatment system based on stannous ion technology to reduce the risk of copper and lead leaching in piping networks.

Rick Bacon, CEO of AMS, comments on the opening of the new Innovation Center, “Traditional lead monitoring programs are largely a waste of time and money and only serve to create the impression that something is being done. They are consistently failing to protect public health because current analytical methods are limited in their ability to measure the presence of all forms of lead, capture unpredictable changes in water quality that provoke lead corrosion and report them before the water is delivered to the customer. With the development of our online total lead analyzer, both consumers and water treatment plants will be made aware of an increase in the risk of lead poisoning so they can take timely actions to avoid that.”

Bacon adds: “EPA estimates for lead service line replacement are approximately $30Bn. Until this investment is made, if ever, consumers will continue to be exposed to the risk of lead poisoning. Our innovative SafeGuard H2O treatment system provides a protective lining on the inside of lead pipes and also removes biofilm that is one of the primary causes of lead pipe corrosion. Until such time as lead service lines are replaced, SafeGuard H2O offers an affordable and reliable lead remediation technology that will reduce the risk of consumers’ exposure to lead contamination.”

Based in Wyckoff, New Jersey, the new center’s lab will be under the leadership of AMS’s Senior Scientist, Dr. Vlad Dozortsev. He will be joined by a leading Research Chemist Julia Tyutina who has extensive knowledge of electrochemical analytical methods. Tyutina will be directing development and demonstration efforts of the company’s revolutionary analytical and treatment solutions for lead.
