Entries for 2006 GLOBE environmental awards now open

VANCOUVER, BC, Canada, Nov. 15, 2005 -- Entries are now being accepted for the 2006 GLOBE Awards, Canada's highest profile national acclaim for environmental excellence. The awards identify and showcase companies that have taken a proactive approach to sustainable business strategies and that have made significant strides towards developing progressive technologies and services. The awards will be presented on March 31 at the GLOBE 2006 Conference and Trade Fair, being held at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The list of previous winners of the GLOBE Awards includes some of the most celebrated companies in the Canadian environmental business community. Past winners include Alcan Inc., CleanTech Venture Network, Toyota CanadaCanadian Pacific Railway, RailPower Technologies Corporation, and The Mining Association of Canada.

Businesses with a track record of environmental innovation are encouraged to enter the GLOBE Awards for Environmental Excellence in one of six categories:
-- The Corporate Competitiveness Award
-- The Industry Association Award for Environmental Performance
-- The Corporate Award for Technology Innovation and Application
-- The Industry Award for Export Performance
-- The Capital Markets Award for Sustainable Investment & Banking
-- The Award for Excellence in Brownfield Redevelopment

Submissions for the GLOBE Awards are judged by a panel of well-known experts from the Canadian business community. For detailed criteria information, please visit the GLOBE Awards website at www.theglobeawards.ca. The deadline for proposals is Jan. 27.

GLOBE 2006, one of the largest international platforms on the business of the environment, will bring together environmental business leaders and corporate environmental managers March 29–31, 2006 at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.
