Water and climate to be central themes at 3rd World Water Forum

Although water and climate is a relatively new theme for the global water movement, it has been given high priority on the 3rd World Water Forum agenda - and for good reason.

March 4, 2003 -- Although water and climate is a relatively new theme for the global water movement, it has been given high priority on the 3rd World Water Forum agenda - and for good reason.

Over the last decade, increasing climate variability has led to more and more extreme weather events affecting millions world-wide. And future climate change threatens to make conditions even worse.

Taking actions to cope better with climate variability will take us a long way towards coping with tomorrow's climate change.

The twelve sessions on Water and Climate, to be held March 16-17, will focus on different actions that stakeholders from the local to the international level can take to meet the increasing challenges of climate variability and change.

Members of the industry are invited to join the open discussions and help formulate action-oriented recommendations to the Ministerial Conference.
