TULSA, OK, August 19, 2008 -- The organizers of Urban Water Management 2009, an integrated water quality conference and exhibition owned by PennWell Corporation, are pleased to announce that the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) has signed on as a flagship association partner of the event.

Founded in 1970, NACWA represents the interests of over 300 public agencies and organizations that have made the pursuit of scientifically based, technically sound and cost effective laws and regulations their objective. NACWA maintains a key role in the development of environmental legislation, and works closely with federal regulatory agencies in the implementation of environmental programs.

"We are honored to have NACWA on board as a flagship association partner," said Timm Dower, publisher for PennWell's Water Group. "The objectives of Urban Water Management are closely aligned with those of NACWA, and with their support we will deliver a high-caliber forward thinking conference and networking opportunity to the growing community of watershed management professionals."

"We are very excited about the synergy between NACWA and Urban Water," said Angela Godwin, chair of the Urban Water Management conference program. "Together, we'll be able to provide a solid program of educational and informative sessions covering the subjects that urban water managers not only want to learn, but need to learn."

"NACWA is excited to be partnering with Urban Water on this important conference offering," said Ken Kirk, executive director of NACWA. "One of the Association's top priorities is to educate key stakeholders about the need to address urban water issues from a holistic, watershed-based perspective and this conference will help shed light on this vital need."

In its second year, Urban Water Management, taking place March 23-26, 2009, in Overland Park, KS, will provide a venue for the discussion of the latest technologies and techniques for controlling urban water runoff, protecting urban streams and watersheds, controlling and preventing sewer overflows, and complying with environmental regulations.

Designed with engineers, consultants, regulatory groups, municipal employees, watershed/stormwater program managers, and contractors in mind, the event will feature a comprehensive conference program covering many of the issues faced by today's urban water managers.

The three-day conference agenda will be packed with interesting and informative presentations from industry leaders from across the country. Session topics include: BMPs, GIS/mapping, stormwater treatment and management, CSO control, low impact development, watershed management, water quality monitoring, and more.

On the exhibit floor, attendees will have an opportunity to see and hear about some of the latest and greatest urban water technologies and network with industry peers.
