Aqua-Aerobic Systems receives Chesapeake 'Partner of the Year' award
ROCKFORD, IL, Nov. 16, 2006 -- Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc. received the 2006 Partner of the Year award from Businesses for the Bay for its efforts in pollution prevention in the Chesapeake Bay area. Businesses for the Bay is a voluntary team of businesses, industries, government facilities and other organizations within the Chesapeake Bay watershed who are committed to implementing pollution prevention in the Chesapeake Bay area.
Criteria for the Partner of the Year award included education and outreach activities which assisted the pollution prevention goals of the Chesapeake Bay program. A ceremony for the award recipients was held at the Businesses for the Bay Annual Meeting on November 13, 2006 in Laurel, Maryland.
Aqua-Aerobic Systems was recognized for itsefforts in developing a program titled, Aqua Chesapeake Assistance Program (ACAPSM). The program educates and provides technical assistance to its customers and other wastewater professionals in respect to the Chesapeake Bay Initiative so treatment plants can meet compliance by 2010. The ACAP program offers technical assistance via phone, invitations to technical seminars and a free facility assessment that includes recommendations for biological and filtration system treatment technologies to achieve cost-effective treatment. Membership to the ACAP program is free. Aqua-Aerobic currently has 29 wastewater treatment facilities involved in its ACAP program.
