ORANGE COUNTY, CA, MAY 10, 2017 -- A stretch of coastline in Huntington and Newport beaches is closed after raw sewage spilled onto the beach Tuesday.

The Orange County Health Care Agency's environmental health division issued an ocean closure after the 1,800 gallon spill was reported. Beaches in the area are expected to remain closed for at least 3 days.

A lift station failure on private property was determined to be the cause of the spill.
