March 26, 2001—The California energy crisis has garnered a top spot on the new Itron web site.

The story, "California's Energy Crisis: Opportunity in Disguise," discusses the shock business owners must have felt when rolling blackouts began early this year. Calling the crisis a multidimensional problem that doesn't lend itself to easy answers, the article discusses various sides to the issue and some possible solutions.

The metering and AMR company has relaunched the site with a new focus — that of sharing knowledge which might be helpful to Itron customers.

Other articles also are available from the front page, including the installation of AMR in an Alaska natural gas system, the story of Nashville Electric Service's meter-reading problem, and AMR financing strategies and options.

The site contains three main sections. The solutions center has lists of industry challenges and comprehensive solutions, including the technologies employed and case studies from customers.

The product center contains full details on all Itron technology, including relevant customer case studies and product literature.

Industry resources include a glossary with scores of pertinent industry knowledge and dozens of related web links.
