The Orbeco-Hellige Oxi700™ BOD System is a new six sample sensor system that allows accurate and precise measurement of biological oxygen demand. It is a new, manometric respirometer that measures BOD according to Standard Methods 5210 D. Respirometric BOD offers many advantages over the conventional “Dilution Method” including: reduced sample preparation time, no dilutions or dilution water required and automatic collection and storage of data.
The OLOID system from West Technology Systems provides water aeration, mixing and circulation. The novel shape and movement of the unit body combined with its low (< 500W) power requirement makes the OLOID 400 unique in its ability to efficiently operate as both an aerator and a circulator. When configured as a surface aerator in pond sewage treatment plants the unit enhances the operation of conventional aeration equipment by homogenizing oxygen distribution.

The ITT Leopold® elimi-NITE® Denitrification System uses the advantages of deep bed, mono-media filters to remove nitrogen in wastewater effluent. In addition to nitrogen, the system can simultaneously remove suspended solids. The gravity, downflow, packed-bed denitrification system is an attached growth, microbiological process which removes nitrate-nitrogen achieving levels below 1 mg/liter.

Process monitor, control
Dissolved oxygen and suspended solids are two of the most important controllable parameters in any biological reactor. Stabilizing these two parameters will reduce operation costs and enhance process performance. Insite Instrumentation Group’s Model 2000 will make both of these crucial measurements. The dissolved oxygen sensor is an optical design that eliminates the need for replaceable membranes, sensor caps, cartridges, and fill solutions. The system does not require initial calibration. It uses the fluorescence properties of a rare earth element to detect dissolved oxygen.
Sludge reduction systems
Fluidyne’s Integrated Surge Anoxic Mix – ISAM™ activated sludge system provides tertiary level wastewater treatment with integral sludge reduction all in one process. Sludge reduction is inherent in the system, which has very low power usage through sludge recycling, solids separation, and anaerobic destruction. Sludge production in the process is as much as 85% less than other activated sludge processes. There is no need for separate sludge reduction processes. Anaerobic/Anoxic/Aerobic zones in the biological process provide an ideal environment for BOD reduction and nutrient removal.

Submerged in the aeration section of the Titan tank, the Flat-Plate Membrane maintains high permeability and flux rates even at peak-day rates. Biogas flow monitoring
Photon Control’s Focus® Probe optical flow meters are successfully measuring flow rates of biogas at sewage digesters in Vancouver. The methane-rich biogas posed a problem for conventional flow meters which could not cope with the low flow rates, low pressure and high humidity specific to biogas. Using optical laser beams to measure the velocity of naturally occurring particulates, the probe enables highly accurate flow determination despite pipe vibration, acoustic noise and gas condensation.

The SDOX™ delivers a precisely metered stream of water with highly concentrated DO (310 mg/L) to mix with the wastewater being treated without bubble formation or off-gassing, resulting in nearly 100% oxygen utilization by the process. ScaleBlaster is designed to eliminate formation of limescale deposits in water pipes, wastewater pipes, faucets, cooling towers, boilers, heating elements and more without the need of water softening equipment, salts, chemicals or maintenance. The unit is also effective in the removal of struvite. The integrated circuitry system produces a modulating frequency waveform that hits the resonant frequency of the calcium carbonate molecules causing them to lose their adhesive properties.
