Antiscalants, membrane cleaners
Koch Membrane Systems (KMS) offers NSF-certified Kochtreat® antiscalants and Kochkleen® membrane cleaners to support Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems producing potable water. The antiscalants and membrane cleaners are specifically formulated for drinking water applications. KMS is the first company to supply NSF-certified membrane cleaners.

Flows range from 1 cc/min to 20 gpm on standard skids. 1000:1, constant torque turndown is now available through advanced AC motor technology. The skids can deliver thin to highly viscous liquids as well as corrosive and solid laden chemicals.
LaMotte has introduced the new multi-wavelength Smart 2 Colorimeter with 75 pre-programmed tests. The new unit replaces the original Smart Colorimeter® and is less than half its size yet contains more pre-loaded tests and is offered for less cost. Features include a compact, hand-held design and simple menu-driven display that is appropriate for field or lab use.
Chlorine dioxide system
The new Capital Controls™ T Series all-liquid chlorine dioxide generating system from Severn Trent Services offers drinking water facilities a method for generating the chemical disinfectant agent CIO2 onsite. This dual-chemical system uses commercially available or diluted concentrations of hydrochloric acid and sodium chlorite to produce chlorine dioxide.

Suspended solids analyzers
The Royce Models 7110 & 7120 continuous Suspended Solids Analyzers are available in both a single channel (Model 7110) and the dual channel (Model 7120) versions. The analyzers are compatible with all Royce Series 70 Suspended Solids sensors. They have the complete self-cleaning available and multiple output capability. The sensor ranges go from in-situ mounted units measuring 0 – 1500 mg/l up to Pipe Insertion units rated at 0 – 80,000 mg/l.

Isco has released the new EZTOCII Total Organic Carbon analyzer, a dual-stream version specifically for drinking water applications. Based on the company's TOC analyzer technology, the new dual stream unit displays continuous TOC values while alternating between two sample streams. Features include a measuring range 0-10mg/L with a minimum level of detection 0.015mg/L; dual stream sampling option to measure TOC before and after flocculation and/or softening; off line analysis of grab samples; high TIC scrubber ensures removal of inorganic carbon even in hard water regions; UV promoted persulfate oxidation combined with NDIR detection provide excellent repeatability and low operating costs; and dual 4-20 mA outputs and unidirectional serial communication.
Chlorine residual analyzer
The RA-1000 from Eagle Microsystems is an amperometric-type, low maintenance instrument for analysis and control of chlorine residual in the water and wastewater processes. The unit is capable of measuring free or total residual using inexpensive white vinegar as the buffering agent. Alternatively a CO2 buffering system is available. The analyzer is available with either a gravity or peristaltic pump-fed reagent system.

Brackett Green offers screening technology with apertures of 2.0, 1.0 and 0.5 mm, depending on the final requirements, for use in screening of solids and floating debris in front of membrane technologies. The company's CF100™ & CF200® Central Flow Band Screens, Drum Screens and Dual Flow Screens eliminate bypassing and carry over of solids and floating debris. This screening process reduces or eliminates the downstream fouling of pumps, monitoring equipment, and primary/secondary treatment processes and aids in producing a homogenous sludge.

HydroGlobe offers the ActivMet™ system, a proprietary, mechanically activated filtration system that provides a continuous source of active iron reaction sites for adsorbing and/or reacting with arsenic and other heavy metals including lead, copper, chromium, mercury, depleted uranium, and others. The system was installed in Hopewell, NJ. In tests completed in January, the system, which consists of filtration tanks, pumps and an iron-based chemical added to the water stream, cut arsenic at a local well from more than 40 ppb to fewer than five.
In municipal water treatment applications where carbon or even stainless steel will be attacked by the process media, an alternative to expensive metal alloy basket strainers is now available. The new Model 72L Strainer from Hayward Industrial Products is a heavy-duty, carbon steel simplex basket strainer that has a protective liner constructed of Tefzel®, a material that has outstanding chemical inertness and superior mechanical strength.

The Leopold Type S® Technology Underdrains are the latest in the company's line of filter equipment for the water treatment industry. Both the Type S® and Type SL® Underdrain employ a unique water recovery channel for enhanced air scouring and water backwash performance. Other results of Type S technology are broader air flow range, improved air stability under all operating conditions and lower water maldistribution. The Type S underdrain is ideal for installations requiring longer laterals, while the Type SL Underdrain features a lower profile (4'' lower) making it ideal for shallow filters where greater filter media depth is desired.

TTHM and HAA5 regulatory limits are driving water treatment facilities to look for alternative means of disinfection that avoid the production of disinfection by-products (DBPs). Replacing chlorine with MIOX mixed oxidants can reduce DBP formation by up to 50%, while still leaving a durable free chlorine residual, even when long detention times are an issue. TTHM reductions tied to MIOX systems are three-fold.
USFilter has expanded the offering for their its GFH™ arsenic removal systems. Communities now have the option of media change out services, equipment leasing or capital purchase. The systems remove arsenic through an adsorption process. Operated as fixed-bed absorbers, operator attention is minimized through infrequent need for backwash and elimination of pre-oxidation. Once the adsorption capacity is reached, the media is removed and replaced with new media.

The U.S. EPA recently released data generated during a third-party evaluation of eight commercially available rapid toxicology technologies. The data, posted to www.epa.gov/evt, confirm that the ToxTrak™ Toxicity Test from Hach yields screening performance that can be effective and practical in early warning water surveillance for chemical contaminants. Battelle and the Environmental Technology Verification Program completed this evaluation under a cooperative agreement with the USEPA.
The In Line+™ from Aquionics is specifically designed for wastewater disinfection and effluent re-use. As the next generation of the company's In Line™ UV disinfection system, the new model offers the same low maintenance, efficiency and small footprint with enhanced performance, features and controls. Improved hydraulics deliver disinfection performance with fewer lamps.
Hydrodyne Systems has been manufacturing water testing instruments for over 25 years. The EZ-Check colorimeter is built with the company's patented "Curve Fit Technology," eliminating the need for factory re-calibration. The analyzer is provided with a pre-filled reagent system that requires users to just add water.
The new Omexell™ double-walled, PVDF hollow fiber UF membrane has a nominal pore diameter of 0.01µm, allowing for the removal of all particulate matter, bacteria (9-log reduction) and most viruses and colloids and is resistant to strong levels of disinfectants (up to 2000 ppm NaOCl). Despite the small pore diameter, the membrane has a very high porosity resulting in a flux similar to that of microfiltration (MF) and can effectively replace MF in most cases.
Streaming current detector
Milton Roy's Streaming Current Detector is a dynamic analyzer used in polymer and other chemical dosing applications. By measuring residual ions in the flow, precise dosing of polymers and coagulants to sludge processing and other water-related processes can be performed. This maximizes the treatment while significantly reducing the costs of chemicals and wear on plant processing equipment.
Filter backwash valves
Bermad manufactures a wide range of control valves that can be readily applied to filter control and backwash operations. Included in this range is the 3-ported 350 Series specifically designed for filter backwash applications. The heart of the series is a diaphragm actuated plug assembly that keeps the supply port closed until the backwash port is opened and vice-versa. This prevents the mixing of supply and wastewater.
Taylor Technologies manufactures field tests for analyzing water both before and after treatment. Choose from color-matching tests or drop-count titrations to monitor over 40 analytes including halogen sanitizers, alkalinity, ammonia, copper, hardness, iron, lead, manganese, molybdenum, nitrite, pH, TDS, silica, and zinc.

Controlotron's System 1020FT In-Line Transit-Time Flowmeter is ideally suited for low velocity, small line applications. The non-wetted transducer design, constructed of CPVC or Kynar tube material, allows it to be used on even the most aggressive chemical applications. The meter measures flow rates as low as 1 gph.
Ozonia has released the OZAT™ CFV range of ozone generators to complement its existing CFS and CFL ranges. The new CFV line includes three models with nominal outputs of 90, 130 and 175 pounds per day from oxygen. Additional sizes and models are under development. Key features of the CFV range are: compact dimensions; completely pre-assembled skid-mounted ozone package; ASME Code 316L SS ozone vessels (USA); rugged steel cabinet houses all electronics; operator interface is a panel mounted touch screen; Allen Bradley PLC control logic; and a power factor of 0.99.
