Pall showcases food & beverage technologies at Drinktec 2005
EAST HILLS, NY, Sept. 12, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- To help beverage and liquid food manufacturers optimize their increasingly complex processes to ensure quality, safety and economic efficiency of their end products, Pall Corporation is showcasing its broad portfolio of Total Fluid ManagementSM (TFM) technologies at Drinktec 2005 in Munich, Germany.
As a global leader in filtration, separation and purification technologies for the food and beverage industry, Pall's scope of technology platforms can support all phases of the production process from incoming water through outgoing waste streams and the key steps in-between. The company will demonstrate the application of its technologies and TFM approach to the production of beer, wine, bottled water, spirits, fruit juice and other non-alcoholic beverages as well as food products for the broad range of companies attending Drinktec, the world's leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food products industry.
"Our product portfolio targets those companies that are looking for a competitive edge and an improved economic return from their manufacturing process so they can maximize their commercial gains," says Wolfgang Platz, corporate vice president , Pall Food and Beverage. "Total Fluid Management enables companies to integrate Pall's advanced process solutions into their current processes seamlessly and very efficiently."
Pall will showcase a range of products that remove or minimize the problems associated with diatomaceous earth (DE) for a more positive environmental impact in beverage processing including protecting the health and safety of the labor force and more efficient and economical maintenance and disposal. It will also showcase technologies that improve the quality of water used either as an ingredient or as part of the production process of most beverages and many foods. Some of the many technologies Pall is featuring at Drinktec are:
-- BeFis (Best Filtration System), a clarification and stabilization system that recycles DE and single use stabilizing aids, which can result in significant savings of up to 80 percent annually. Pall will provide examples of its benefits including a case history with the Altenburg Brewery, located in Germany , and the savings achieved in their operations over an 18-month period.
-- The PROFI™ system*, a fully automated system solution combining a high performance centrifuge with a crossflow membrane system and Pall's process expertise providing a completely DE-free beer clarification solution without affecting taste or brand integrity. A case history with one of the world's leading breweries will demonstrate the economics, safety and quality benefits of the PROFI system, which is setting new standards in modern beer production.
-- The Pall OenoFlow™ System, a crossflow membrane system that enables the cost effective replacement of DE in most filtration steps throughout the winemaking process.
Consistent quality of water, no matter its source, is an integral part of the processing of most beverages and some foods, either as an ingredient or in their production. For example, breweries often use up to 8 - 10 liters of water to produce a single liter of beer. As potable water increasingly becomes a scarce commodity around the world, there is a growing need for more efficient methods to ensure consistency and quality while minimizing the overall water consumption. The Pall Aria™ Water Treatment System helps the food and beverage industries better control their water use and quality in the most economical way possible. It is designed to produce drinking water that meets today's most stringent quality standards and can be configured in a compact footprint to meet a variety of water needs. At Drinktec, Pall will demonstrate how this system can help food and beverage manufacturers efficiently manage both their incoming water and outgoing waste streams.
"Total Fluid Management is a key to the success of companies that want to efficiently provide consistent quality of their brand no matter where in the world it is produced," Mr. Platz adds.
